the great cutlery scavenger hunt!

Location: The Salvos,Tempe and Rozelle markets.

I can admit it.
Yes, I am OBSESSED with cutlery!
I will always stop at a flea market, garage sale or charity shop and rummage around in their odds and ends.
I'm never looking for matching pairs, always just looking for pieces that have a beautiful patina.

These pics were taken at the Prop Stop.
It is a treasure trove of kitchen paraphenalia that is invaluable when I have food shoots.
I can potter around ummming and aahhhing about possibilities for hours! It is a very inspiring space....

vintage kitchen ephermera

I always have my eye out for vintage kitchen utensils to use as props for my food styling.
They appeal to me because of the sense of warmth and authenticity they bring to a shot.

treasure trove in the country...

Location: Lucknow, NSW

This big shed is in the tiny village of Lucknow, just outside Orange in the Central West of NSW.
It is packed to the rafters (literally!) with all sorts of delectable treasures.
If you have a chance to pop in I can guarantee you will always find lots of bits and bobs to inspire you!

Location: at home

I love a collection, a vignette. (Dragonfly is an ever changing landscape because of this LOVE!)
One of my favourite things to do as child/teenager was to move around my knick knacks on the huge bookcase which Dad built to cover a whole wall in my bedroom.
We now have an old, "reconditioned" chicken coop at home (see pic) which we bought a few years ago from Doug Up On Bourke in Waterloo.
It has 6 "chicken-keeping-compartments", the perfect sized spaces for putting all my treasures.

perfume cloches

Location: The Country Trader, Waterloo
Photography: Lisa Mattock

Oooh look at these beauties that I saw yesterday afternoon as I was out and about propping for a client.
These were at The Country Trader in Waterloo.
They're old cloches used by a perfume house for fragrance testing. Lift the lid and sniff!
I am still trying to work out an "angle" so I can propose them to my client. Thinking cap on....

My Dad- the artist and sculptor

Photographer: Lisa Mattock

My Dad is a talented artist and sculptor.
He works with oils and watercolours, and sculpts out of soap stone, wood and aluminium.
These are some pics that he had just had framed when I was visiting.
They are of his local golf club, Duntry League.
Yep, he's a clever clogs...

green house full of begonias

Location: Cook Park, Orange NSW
Photography: Lisa Mattock
Mum and I recently went for a wander through Cook Park in Orange while I was home visiting.
It was like stepping back in time because I spent a lot of time there feeding ducks, playing on the swings and picnicing with friends when I was a little girl.
There is the most adorable green house that I had completely forgotten about. It was built in the 1930's and is full of the most extraordinary begonias in every colour imaginable.

Mum's workroom

Location: Mum and Dad's house, Orange NSW
Photographer: Lisa Mattock

These pics are of Mum's workroom where she makes all that quilting magic happen...
There are so many exciting "treasures" in her room which she has collected over the years - fabric, buttons, ribbons, beads, to name but a few.
Mum's creativity has always been at the heart of our family, and I know for sure that it the foundation for my own life path.

My Mum - the quilter

Location: Mum and Dad's house, Orange
Photographer: Lisa MAttock

My Mum has been quilting (obsessively!) for the past 20 years.
It is her great love and passion.
She has made literally 100's and 100's! In all imaginable shapes, sizes and colourways.
The workmanship and attention to detail is incredible.
They are stored in cupboards, hung on walls, given as gifts, and draped on many surfaces.
These pics are just a few that are hanging around the place.

Orange in the Autumn

I've spent the last two weeks travelling to and from my home town of Orange in the Central West of NSW.
I had forgotten how incredibly beautiful it is in the Autumn...
